ROCA DELS MOROS ROCK ART CLUSTER (EL COGUL)

The Roca dels Moros represents one of Catalonia's most emblematic and best preserved rock art clusters. Located in a cavity which houses evidence of over 5,000 years of human occupation, the cave art and engravings seem to indicate the site held religious significance. Groups of hunter-gatherers left their imprint in the form of Levantine paintings, while, Neolithic groups expressed their religious beliefs with schematic impressions.

Thanks to its exceptional conservation and emblematic status, the site was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998. The Roca dels Moros forms part of the MAC's Rock Art Route and the European Network of Early Settlers and Prehistoric Rock Art and Cultural Route Prehistoric Rock Art Trails.
